Chasing Invisible Light (2009), a duo for alto flutes in four sections, was composed using a combination of diatonic and twelve-tone pitch systems. The two middle sections in particular are based on a tone row, which comprises the BACH motif (Bb-A-C-B), inversion of the motive (D#-E-C#-D), and transposition of the motive (Gb-F-Ab-G), as used by Anton Webern in his String Quartet, Op. 28 (1938). The work is tightly constructed and relies upon contrapuntal techniques throughout. The BACH motif has been used by many composers such as J.S Bach, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Arnold Schoenberg, Arthur Honegger, Alfred Schnittke, Ron Nelson, etc
